Vienna's Austrian Economics Center, advocates of free markets and "the Austrian School" of economics championed by the likes of Mises, Hayek and Rothbard, is holding its third annual gala event on November 14 at the Palais Liechtenstein in Vienna. The keynote speaker will be Harvard Professor Niall Ferguson, author of The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World (2008) and Civilization: The Six Ways the West Beat the Rest (2011).
The GoldMoney Foundation will be a proud sponsor of this event, and GoldMoney's Head of Research Alasdair Macleod will be speaking there. For more information, please contact Tina Carr at c.carr@austriancenter.com, or consult the gala webpage at http://www.austriancenter.com/next-generation/gala2012.html.
Students aged 11-19 who can write and/or speak German are also encouraged to enter the event's "Mobility for the Next Generation" competition. This gives them a chance to present their ideas about ways in which economic mobility and progress can be encouraged. Entries can be done in the form of videos, podcasts, short sketches, essays, or other types of presentations. As the organisers say: "Imagination knows no bounds!" Both individuals and groups or classes are invited to submit projects. Entries are required to be in German.
